Personally, I have been to Taipei city for several times, but this time it was different, since the purpose for the visit was business purpose. But, I took 2 days to explore this beautiful and clean city once again and in a different way. Normally, if we are talking about big city especially the capital of the country, the first thing will be a bustling city with skyscraper and shopping.
For this trip, I mixed the trip with nature and outdoor activities with the usual sightseeing activities. I start my trip by visiting the famous Yang Ming Shan National Park which is relatively close to the city and catch the calla lilies flower blooming season. There are lots of calla lilies around Zhu Zi Hu (竹子湖) area. And one can always hand picked the flower or even just buy it and take it back home. Here are some of the view around Zhu Zhi Hu.
Besides the flowers, there are lots of hiking or walking trail from moderate to hard such as Xiaoyoukeng, Qingtiangang, Lengshuikeng, etc. You can enjoy the spectacular view of the area while doing the hiking or recreation in the national park.
To reward yourself after the tiring day, one can proceed to the bus stop at the entrance to Zhu Zi Hu to get a glimpse of Taipei City night panoramic view. Additionally, you can also proceed to the back of Chinese Culture University (Wenhua, 文化大學). This is by far the best to see Taipei at night because you can clearly see the Taipei 101 too.
The next morning, I woke up early to do some hiking around Xinyi area where Elephant Mountain (象山) located. Xinyi district is famous for the shopping district, so most tourist will not know that, there is a nature hiking trail in this area which locals came here to do their morning exercise and also hiking the trail. The reason why I choose this is because even though the hike will be hard one and demanding (lots of stairs, and not regular stairs), but it offers another great view of Taipei City with Taipei 101 as the main thing to see. Here are some of the photos that I took for the course of the hike.
After morning exercise, I just strolling around the shopping district and also relaxing at Eslite bookstore where you can browse lots of book collections and also hanging out at the cafe inside.
To end the day, you can just go up the Taipei 101 and eat at one of the restaurant at the top of Taipei 101. Make sure you pick the table beside the window, so that you can enjoy the view while having your dinner.
Please check back later for my next trip or project. If you are interested in licensing for publication purposes of the photos here, just contact me here!
