To commemorate 50th anniversary of speech by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. ‘I Have A Dream’ which pointed about equality for everyone, The Consulate of the USA Medan organized a photography competition to show the similarity of diversity in Sumatra and USA.
The theme of the competition is ‘Sumatra in Diversity’ (SUMATERAKU), which showed equality in Sumatra diversity. There are hundreds of photographers submitted to the competition, and we are glad that our 3 pictures were picked as a finalist from total of 43 pictures.

All of these 43 finalist pictures handpicked by the judges is being exhibited at the newly opened Kualanamu International Airport and placed in the departure terminal. The exhibition was opened by the US Consul for Sumatra Mrs. Kathryn A. Crockart and also the General Manager of Angkasa Pura II Mr. Tengku Said Ridwan which managing the new Kualanamu International Airport Medan (KNIA, KNO) on September 6th, 2013 @4 p.m.
The reason why they choose the airport is because Kualanamu International Airport is the gateway that connect Sumatra in this case North Sumatra with the outside world. It will last for 2 weeks until September 20th, 2013 which the GM himself ensure that during the grand opening of the airport by The President of Indonesia, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) on September 19th, 2013, all the pictures will be there to show the beautiful image of Sumatra.
